Strength and Vulnerability Can Exist Together

Too often we think toughness means never showing cracks.

But real strength isn’t about hiding struggle. It’s about carrying it, facing it and still moving forward.

In my years as a psychiatrist, I’ve seen so many people quietly believe that showing need makes them “weak.” The truth is the opposite. Strength and vulnerability don’t cancel each other out, they live side by side.

🔸 Three Ways to Remind Yourself How Far You’ve Come 🔸

✅ Look Back, Not Just Ahead

Notice the ground you’ve already covered. Think about those times you didn’t think you’d get through, but you did.

✅ Celebrate the Small Wins

Healing and growth rarely arrive all at once. Every small step forward counts more than you think. Keep moving forward.

✅ Ask for Reflection

Sometimes others see our progress before we do. Let a trusted friend, mentor or therapist remind you of your strength.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”  – Brené Brown

Strength isn’t the absence of need.

It’s the courage to keep going even when you do.

You’ve already proven you’re stronger than you realize.

Keep going.
